To cater to the highly demanding European and Turkish markets, Akkanat iplik in Türkiye decided to establish its first spinning unit in 1992. Their goal was to produce mélange and special yarns while ensuring complete control over the quality of their products. Given the high power and worker wage costs in Türkiye, the key success factor for any spinning mill was to produce high-quality yarn while maintaining low manufacturing costs through increased yarn realization, reduced power costs, and automation.

Recognizing the need to modernize their existing spinning unit, the Akkanat group planned to upgrade their machinery for a product mix of combed cotton compact yarns and venture into the Airjet segment for synthetic, cellulose, and cotton blend applications. They decided to start their modernization with LMW Card and Draw frame machines for their Airjet process.
